Mental Health Awareness Week assets now available

It’s not long to go until Mental Health Awareness Week!

As the official Community Partner, Sport England are so excited to raise awareness of the role of movement in supporting the nation's mental health and help people to find #MomentsForMovement in their daily routines.

The Mental Health Foundation have produced some useful, free assets to support everyone advocate for the role of movement in supporting our mental health across the week (May 13-19). From poster, logos, graphics and editorial copy – there are lots of ways you can encourage and share #MomentsForMovement. Download assets here.

To help people to find ways to move more, Sport England have refreshed their activity pages on the website. The new ‘Get Moving’ webpages provide tips, advice guidance on how to keep or get active, including activities indoors, outdoors and fun fitness challenges.

Call to action:

We are encouraging the sector to take to social media, share tips, ideas of ways to be active, including local activities and talk about why our mental health is important. We ask that you capture those magical active moments with friends, colleagues and family members as pictures or videos and share on social media with the hashtag #MomentsForMovement.

Core messages for the campaign:

  • This Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s move more for our mental health.
  • Movement (and physical activity) are important for good mental health and movement is proven to help prevent and manage poor mental health.

Themes for the Week

Themes are now finalised for each day (Mon-Fri) of MHAW which can be shared with sector partners. Each day Sport England will be focusing on content around these themes and would love to encourage partners, where possible, to align their planned content on these days to make a bigger impact via the various social channels.

The themes are;

Monday 13th Moments for Movement - sharing moments for movement

Tuesday 14th Workforce - tips and advice on how we can support out workforce to move more

Wednesday 15th Active Travel - how active travel can support our wellbeing

Thursday 16th Green and Blue Spaces - exploring how being active outdoors can support our mental health

Friday 17th Children & Young People - links between being active and mental wellbeing
